What do you say when a Muslim says Jesus isn’t God but just another man God used?
What do you say when a Muslim says Jesus didn’t die on a cross?
What do you say when a Muslim says God (1) isn’t revealed in 3 persons (Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit)?
This is what I, Terrence and a member of our church had to defend against recently…and it has been an on-going defense.
One thing’s for sure, we will not be able to convince this gentleman, his wife, and a friend in our neighborhood that Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father in a couple of meetings!
We have sat down with these 3 individuals twice (for hours) and it doesn’t seem like we’re getting anywhere…at least that’s what I think.
But their unbelief of the “only True God and Jesus Christ who He has sent” (John 17:3-4) doesn’t discourage me. You know why? Take a look at Paul and his relentless passion to persuade the unbelievers in Acts 17:16-18…
16 Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was being provoked within him as he was observing the city full of idols. 17 So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present. 18 And also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. Some were saying, “What would this idle babbler wish to say?” Others, “He seems to be a proclaimer of strange deities,”—because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.
This is what went on before Paul preached the familiar sermon on Mars Hill (Acts 17:22-33).
Everyday Paul was reasoning with the Jews, Gentiles, Epicurean and Stoic Philosophers… “everyday”.
At the end of the chapter… several of them believed in the Gospel message.
My prayers for these precious unbelievers are…
1.God would save them in a miraculous way like He did me…everyone who is saved is a walking miracle!
2.Turn from the false god of Islam.
3.Become servants in the church of the living God contending for the faith of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Will you believe with me?
Also, even if someone knows more than you when it comes to history or religion…don’t be afraid of that! The God of the Bible can change anyone in His timing…ask Paul himself…formally known as Saul.
